When it come to quotes you don't really ever pay attention to if it is a really good quote. If it weren't a really good quote then it wouldn't be out there in the first place, right. I guess what I am trying to say is when is it that a quote is significant. To me a quote is significant when you hear it and it sends or gives you a message that you cannot forget. A quote that relates to you and helps a person out. Quotes can be significant to some people and not to others. I've been hearing about that not all quotes seem to be inspirational or good, but just as a reminder I am focusing on the topic of cool quotes. Not all quotes seem to fit in the same category of succeeding, but some are to make someone feel better and not as if they don't have a chance at something.
A quote I will like to share out is, "Excellence is not an act, but a habit."To me this quote is saying that trying to become better at something isn't something that you do, but it is something that is already in you and you will always try to make it. It is surprising that such a small quote can mean something big to person. Take for example the quote above. Quotes can be long, short any way that you like, but just know that they all contain a message that makes a person think about and do the right thing instead of making the wrong choice.
Thinking about it this reminds me about the double entry journals that we need to do in the 11th grade Humanities class. We pick 5- 10 quotes from the reading Freakonomics and next to them we make an analysis and the response we write out turns out to e longer than the quote we choose. Sometimes you just don't need to talk about what the quote means to you, but sometimes you can make connections that lead to the quote or the quote sometimes leads. Cool Quotes can lead a person to really big things and that is good because then it means that the quote was really significant to the person that connected to it.

Leslie I must agree with you when you say that people don’t really think if a quote is good or bad. I sometimes think that the quote must be good because it is written down and people quote the person who said it. Why do you think that? I mean by the significance of the quote and it sending you a message?
It is true because some people really don’t care if the quote means something or not. There are people in this world that just don’t give a damn about quotes and that they don’t understand what it is trying to say. For example, my aunt thinks that the people who make up these quotes should just say what they are trying to say and not make people think of what they are trying to say. Anyway, I know that there are people out there that think like my aunt does.
I agree and disagree with the quote that you chose for this months blog. I believe that excellence is a habit, but in some cases, excellence is diligence. Fro my perspective, diligence isn't a habit, but an everyday struggle and choice. A habit happens easily, in many cases without thought. I liked your point about a quotes length. I definitely agree that quotes don't ave to be long. No, they shouldn't be aloud to be long. Overall I think you had a good blog, but I think you could have added a little more. I don't know what, bt i feel it.
Hey there Leslie,
I think that quotes are "cool" and good because people make it like that. Think about it like money or pearls. They have lots of value because people make it like that and once people stop believing its value, it is worthless. This can apply to anything, like what a famous quote says, "If you honestly think that the sky is green than the sky is green." I don't know if get me, but what I am trying to say is that "cool" quotes are "cool" because people make it "cool" now if everyone decides it is not cool anymore than it is not. One principle of phycology is that the more something comes to be seen by the public eye in their everyday lives than it is more likely to be accepted any time soon. This can only be understood by giving an example. For instance, nowadays, movies need to have some sort of nudity or bad language that the more we are subdued to it the more likely we will accept it and it will become normal.
In sum, what i am trying to say is that anything can become "cool" and it is up to you to make it cool. The more people think it is cool the more likely it will be cool; however, if people think it is not cool than its not.
What a mess, i barely understood what i was trying to say.
Leslie,
Your right all quotes have some sort of significance. They have a message that will appeal to some people and to other not so much. The quotes may create inspiration in some but not in others. So it is all really depending on who looks at a quote. Their meaning is subjective to people. What i rate it may not be the same as you, or what i think it is talking about, means, or what genre it can be classified as.
Leslie,
Overall your blog was great. I do agree with you that at times people can't classify qoutes as good or bad but it is also true that every qoute has somewhat of a message or point.
Dear Leslie,
Like edwin said all quotes do have significance and it could appeal certain people but at the same time not all people because of their opinion. Like steve agreeing and disagreeing to your quote. Everyone can see a quote in a different way and take it in a different way.
I think overall you did a good job talking about your quote and explaining what it means to you.
Dear Leslie,
The first sentence lost me, but then you broke down the thought. I don’t know if that was a strategy because I was confused and then wanted to know what you meant in the first sentence so I kept reading, but with more focus. I really liked your opening paragraph. If you want any other persons thoughts not including yourself about any quotes interview a person, and get there opinion from the same quote and compare.
Leslie, you asked for ideas, and I'd recommend you start taking quotes from the books you read. What sentence or sentences speak to you? Why? Are any of them worth memorizing and returning to?
